About

A focused practice for financial operations

rost ai is a solo AI workflow automation consultancy. No large teams, no generalist pitches — direct, focused work on the specific workflows that slow down small financial firms.

The Practice

Built around direct client work, not account management

My name is Vincent Rost. rost ai is a solo consulting practice — which means when you engage me, you work directly with me throughout the entire project.

My background includes working in a UBS environment during the Credit Suisse client migration, where I worked on finance and accounting AI integration projects. Before that, I studied Economics at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). I understand what financial operations look like from the inside — the workflows, the constraints, and the risk culture that shapes how change happens in these firms.

I started this practice because I kept seeing the same pattern: small financial firms with genuinely automatable workflows — repetitive, rule-based, time-consuming — but without the internal resources to build automation safely. The solution is usually simpler than people expect. The barrier is usually trust and governance clarity, not technology.

I work with firms across Switzerland and Europe, primarily in German and English.

How I Work

Working principles

These aren't marketing statements — they're the constraints I hold myself to on every engagement.

01

Audit before building

I will not propose an implementation without first completing a structured audit. The right automation for your firm may not be what you initially think it is. The audit protects both of us.

02

Human approval is non-negotiable

Every system I build requires a human to review and approve outputs before they leave the firm. I will not build "set and forget" automation for regulated processes. Period.

03

Data governance is defined upfront

Before writing a single line of code, we agree in writing on what data is processed, where it goes, and who has access. No surprises.

04

No exaggerated claims

I will not promise FINMA compliance, investment performance improvements, or outcomes I cannot substantiate. If something is uncertain, I say so.

05

You own everything

At the end of every engagement, you receive full documentation, source code (where applicable), and the ability to maintain or hand the system to someone else. No lock-in.

06

Scope is fixed, agreed in writing

I work on project-fee basis with a defined scope agreed upfront. You know what you're paying before work starts. If scope changes, we discuss it explicitly.

Client Experience

What to expect when working with me

Concrete, not vague.

Direct access throughout

You communicate with me directly, not with account managers. Response time: typically same day during engagement.

Written audit report regardless of outcome

The Workflow Audit delivers a written report you can use internally — whether we proceed to implementation or not.

Clear milestones and check-ins

Every engagement has defined milestones. No surprise pivots. If something unexpected comes up, we discuss it immediately.

Honest about limitations

If a proposed automation creates more risk than it solves, I'll say so — even if that means less work for me. Your firm's reliability matters more than project fees.
